bibles for africa

This coming year we aim to provide 3,000 bibles for Catholic catechists in rural villages in Ghana, West Africa.  These catechists have the primary pastoral responsibility for the care of their village church.  There is an occasional (every one to three months) visit to their church from a priest who will celebrate Mass.  80% of these village catechists do not even own their own bible, even though they are the primary preacher of the Word of God and teacher of the Catholic faith in their church.  These "outstation" parishes often can have between 100-500 members!  Those who have a bible are often missing many pages or entire sections and benefit from the bible that they receive from this program.   It is our initial goal in the next few years to provide 18,000 such bibles in Ghana.

For we don't preach ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord...
